Start your engines — the 9th annual Fun 4 Gator Kids Touch-a-Truck event was a success, and Maven Construction Group is proud to have been a part of it!
This year, our friends from Fun 4 Gator Kids Community Giving, Food4Kids Backpack Program of North Florida and Gainesville Fire Rescue combined forces to create an interactive event that kids of all ages can enjoy. On Sept. 22, 2018, kids had the opportunity to come face-to-face with some of Alachua County’s largest vehicles that they may regularly see around town, including a vehicle from our very own restoration company.
Fun 4 Gator Kids Touch-a-Truck provided children with a hands-on educational experience by allowing them to climb into, sit on, and explore around large vehicles and speak with the vehicle operators. Most importantly, kids learned about the importance of pedestrian safety specifically while around large vehicles. Maven Construction Group’s team members handed out construction safety vests to kids and provided fun tips on how to stay safe while large vehicles are nearby.
The Touch-a-Truck event is more than an educational initiative — it’s also an opportunity to help give back to the community that enriches our lives each day. Funds from this year’s event supported programs with Gainesville Fire Rescue and the Kiwanis of Gainesville’s Safety City. Non-perishable food donations from the event were collected by the Food4Kids Backpack Program of North Florida, a local charity that provides food to children who are at risk of hunger while out of school. With the help of local businesses, vendors, and sponsors, Touch-a-Truck changes the lives of many, and provides kids with the chance to have fun while learning!
